Kiilto Pro Start Primer
Primer
Forms a good bond between the levelling compound and the subfloor. Water-based.
Special features
- absorbs dust and retards penetration of water in the levelling compound into the substrate
- very economical
- water dilutable

Materials
A water-based primer suitable both for porous and non-absorbent surfaces in interior areas prior to levelling. For non-absorbent substrates, we recommended using Kiilto Fix Primer prior to levelling.
Kiilto Start Primer is suitable for the priming of
- concrete- and cement-based levelling compounds (dilution: 1 part primer/4 parts water)
- floors with remains of old adhesive, such as synthetic resin and bitumen (use undiluted)
- surfaces that cannot tolerate moisture, e.g., gypsum and wooden surfaces (use undiluted)
- construction boards, e.g., chipboard and gypsum board etc. (use undiluted)
- non-absorbent surfaces, e.g., paint and ceramic tiles (use undiluted)
Primer has good moisture resistance and forms a good bond between the levelling compound and the subfloor. Alkalinity of cement does not impair the effect of the primer. Not suitable to be used as an additive to levelling compound.

Remove cement laitance, dust, loose dirt and grease. If needed, carry out mechanical sanding or grinding. Apply the primer as a thin, even layer onto the surface by using, for example, a roller, brush or trowel. Rub firmly. Avoid primer bonds. Concrete and levelled substrates can be smoothed immediately after priming. Let building boards, non-absorbent surfaces and surfaces with old adhesive residue dry for approx. 2 hours before levelling. The prevailing conditions, such as the temperature of the room, and the texture and moisture of the subsurface will significantly affect the drying process. Therefore, our recommendations should only be used as a guide. Levelling must be done within 24 hours, at the latest, after priming.
NOTE! Parquets that will be glued down to the subfloor or underfloor heating floors: Remove laitance and other impurities (e.g., remains of old adhesives) that might weaken the subfloor; these must be removed by sanding/grinding. Priming should be done only on areas that will be levelled or smoothed (subfloors of block parquets must neither be primed nor levelled). On construction board subfloor, the parquet is glued down directly onto the boards (no priming, no levelling).
