Kiilto Pro C4 Max Natura

The Kiilto Pro Natura series expands: new Kiilto Pro C4 Max with renewable raw materials & 33 % less fossil greenhouse gas emissions

Kiilto Pro C4 Max is a multipurpose cleaning agent that effectively removes grease and oil stains. It has been highly appreciated by our customers, for instance in the fields of foodservice and professional cleaning. Now, it’s available as part of the Kiilto Pro Natura product family with a new and improved formula.

Natura products are made of raw materials that are renewable, biodegradable and responsibly produced. The ingredients readily break down* in wastewater treatment. Kiilto Pro Natura is a step towards future detergents!

When compared to the previous formula of Kiilto Pro C4 Max, the new Natura product shows a 33 % reduction of fossil greenhouse gas as CO2 equivalent emissions**. The reduction has been achieved by replacing traditional raw materials with bio-based alternatives, and eliminating phosphates for instance. Additionally, the use of packaging containing recycled plastic further supports this reduction. More information about the emissions of Kiilto Pro C4 Max can be found in the Product Carbon Footprint Report, available on the product page.

The change to bio-based raw materials has also made Kiilto Pro C4 Max more user-friendly. The new Kiilto Pro C4 Max is non-corrosive, making it safer to use without heavy protective gear. However, protective gloves are still recommended, as skin contact with any chemical should be minimized.

Already before the formula was updated, Kiilto Pro C4 Max proudly carried both the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and the Allergy label granted by the Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation. The new formula has also been granted both labels.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a clear, unbiased indication of the product’s environmental consciousness and minimal climate impact for its entire life cycle. The label signifies that the substances contained in the product have as little impact on the environment as possible. The Allergy label adds to this by indicating that the product won’t ordinarily cause skin irritation or sensitization, nor trigger fragrance sensitivity symptoms, allergies, or asthma reactions.

In addition to the updated formula, Kiilto Pro C4 Max is now also packaged in canisters that contain recycled plastic. The five-litre canister is 35 % recycled (rHDPE). Corks used are not made of recycled materials. The product is also available in 200-litre barrels, which are washed and reused.

The Kiilto Pro Natura series and biodegradable raw materials are part of Our Promise to the Environment. Our RDI team is continuing to develop and test product formulas that are made from fully renewable materials.

*Click to see the criteria for readily biodegradable

The definition is based on an independent test according to the OECD 301 standard, where the biodegradability of the material is defined by evaluating its CO2 production for at least 28 days. As a result of the evaluation, the raw material can be defined as readily biodegradable.

Data sources:

Primary data for the carbon footprint of old and new C4 max product is based on production from the year 2023. Primary data was collected from KiiltoClean Oy and from suppliers of raw materials and packaging materials. Where the collected data was not comprehensive, it was complemented with similar supplier’s data and selected generic data. Other calculation data is based on the best available data from databases at the time of preparing the PCF.

Database and LCA software used:

The databases used were Ecoinvent 3 database (version 3.9.1 ). The LCA Software used was SimaPro Analyst version 9.5.0.2.

Impact assessment method:

IPCC 2021 GWP100 (excl. CO2 uptake) V1.02

System boundaries: Cradle-to-gate

PCF calculation standards or guidelines used:

The calculations have been conducted adhering to the main principles of the following standards and guidelines:

ISO 14067:2018 Greenhouse gases — Carbon footprint of products — Requirements and guidelines for quantification
