Kiilto’s Debonding on Demand nominated for Nordbygg Gold Medal 2025

Kiilto is honoured to announce that our innovative solution Debonding on Demand has been nominated for Nordbygg's Gold Medal 2025. The award is given to the most innovative new product of the year in the construction sector and is organised by Nordbygg in collaboration with Svensk Byggtjänst. The nomination recognises Kiilto's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the construction industry.

Debonding on Demand is a revolutionary adhesive technology that makes construction and renovation waste recyclable. By enabling the controlled separation of bonded materials, for example through heat or microwaves. This means that tiles can be reused instead of ending up in landfill.

A solution that can transform the construction industry

Construction and demolition waste accounts for a significant share of the world’s total waste. In Sweden alone, construction waste amounts to around 14.3 million tonnes per year (2020), of which only a small proportion is recycled. Debonding on Demand addresses this challenge through a circular solution that enables efficient reuse of construction materials.

“We are extremely proud of this nomination and delighted that Debonding on Demand is recognised as one of the most innovative new products on the market. Our goal is to drive the construction industry towards a more sustainable future, where reuse and circularity are a given.” – Peter Forsberg, Kiilto.

Nordbygg Gold Medal – a prestigious award

The Nordbygg Gold Medal was established in 2010 to recognise groundbreaking product innovations in the construction sector. Previous winners include innovative solutions such as solar energy systems with glass-based roof tiles, exoskeletons for construction workers and circular colour options with recycled materials. This year’s winners will be selected by an expert jury and announced in April/May 2025.
